Scholarship Seminar To Promote Education in Jaffna Schools

A seminar was organised and sponsored by EDU CARE TRUST (a registered charity in Sri Lanka) today 26th of November 2016 at Jaffna Central College to promote, create awareness of year 5 scholarship exams in 2017. We have invited year 4 students of many schools in the vicinity of Jaffna Central College to take part in this seminar which is a first of this kind in Jaffna and a brain child of EDU CARE TRUST. This seminar was approved and supported by the Northern Province Education Department.

More than 250 students and 150 parents of these students attended this seminar which was very well received and attracted very good reviews even from other feeding schools. Our Lower School Head Miss Sumathy Kandasamy hosted this seminar with the help of our newly recruited primary school teacher Mr N Suntha. Mr Suntha is a well known teacher from Mannar District who has developed an easy to learn technique and numerous materials to succeed in year 5 scholarship exams. His students achieved tremendous results in year 5 scholarship exams in Mannar District. He has prepared a sample test paper for the seminar and demonstrated his expertise in preparing for this test paper. Many other scholars including Mr A. Akilathas, Deputy Director for the Educational Management department, and Schools Health Inspector took part in the seminar and gave their expert advice and instructions on how to prepare for this very important exam.
